Wallpaper Description:
The 270-years-old Abbey ceased to function as an ecclesiastical institution when the last 10 monks left in 1998, after an attempt to run the place as a 'bunkhouse' for visitors, following the closure of its private school a few years earlier, failed to pay its way. The naturalist/TV presenter Terry Nutkins then bought the Abbey with a view to developing it as a tasteful but financially viable tourist attraction. Whatever his plans were, they didn't materialise; the Abbey changed hands again and has now become luxury holiday/weekend apartments.
