Wallpaper Description:
*Burg Hohenzollern is the ancestral seat of the princely family, and former ruling German Imperial House of Hohenzollern. It is located between the towns of Hechingen and Bisingen, in whose district it belongs rooms.
# The first medieval castle in the county Zoller was first mentioned in 1267 and probably goes to the 11th Century. It was on 15 Captured in May 1423 after nearly a year of siege by the league of the Swabian Imperial Cities and completely destroyed.
# According to a new building from 1454 was the castle in the Thirty Years War, although developed for the strong fortress, captured in 1634 by the Wurtembergers and temporarily occupied. After the war it was mainly in Habsburg possession before it was occupied during the Austrian War of Succession in the winter 1744/45 by French troops. After the withdrawal of the last Austrian occupation of 1798, the castle fell into disrepair and was at the beginning of the 19th Century a ruin. As the only substantial part of the St. Michael's chapel had been salvaged.
# The idea of a reconstruction of the castle came to the then Crown Prince, later King Frederick William IV, possibly in 1819, when he was on a trip to Italy also wanted to know the roots of its origin and ascended the mountain.
The castle in its present form is a building of the renowned Berlin architect Friedrich August Stiller, who was appointed in 1842 as pupil and successor of Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the architect of the king. It is considered a typical representative of the Gothic revival in the German language. The impressive driveway installations designed, the engineer officer Moritz Karl Ernst von Prittwitz, who was regarded then as the leading Prussian fortress builder.
