This is the last great work of Renoir in this style. The painting was painted on the terrace of the Maison Fournaise in Chatou.

There are the shadows and light in shades of blue, the female faces typical of Renoir. This painting is composed with an amazing contrast between the background and characters in pastels but vivid enough melted, and some food items and very contrasting to the table with fruit colors very vivid and powerful features for relatively pure and Wholesale impasto of pure white for highlights. The reproductions are printed rarely faithful to the original. The image above cons does not all these contrasts.

As usual, Renoir involves a large number of his friends: his wife, Gustave Caillebotte (painter), Mr. Fournaise (restaurateur), Alphonsine Fournaise, Baron Raoul Barbier, Paul Lhote, Lestringuez Ellen Andree (actress) Jeanne Samary (actress) and her banker Mr. Ephrussi which was added later. The leftovers prove that Renoir was a talented painter still life. In the landscape background is of boats.
