According to church tradition, the icon of Panayia Ierosolymitissa was painted in the 19th century in the Holy Land and is ... not made with hands. This means that it was not painted by human hand, but after divine intervention. According to the same tradition at that time there lived a painter nun named Tatiani, to whom a woman appeared in a vision and said: "Sister Tatiana, I came so you would draw me." Tatiana replied: "Blessings sister, but I'm an hagiographer and not a painter". And the visitor said: "Then make an hagiography of mine". The nun who was surprised by the courage of the woman responded: "I have no wood (plank), where should I draw to?" Then she gave her a piece of wood and said: "Draw!" As she painted, her vestments became of gold, her face lit up and heard her say: "Blessed Tatiana, after the evangelist Luke you will make my Hagiography again." The nun then woke up and realized that she was visited in her sleep by the Virgin Mary. When she went to the abbess and told her vision she did not believed her and told her to paint the next day an icon of Virgin Mary. Returning to her cell which scent, she saw with the prioress light coming from the inside and the image of the vision real and not made with hands! Ever since the icon of Panayia Ierosolymitissa is located in the Holy Pilgrimage of the Tomb of Theotokos in Jerusalem in Gethsemane and makes miracles. It is even said that all three times that the temple was flooded, the icon itself rose from the marble throne, where it was located and stood in the ventilation system without relying somewhere! The icon was transferred in 1994 in Athens and Thessaloniki Bishoprics from the Patriarchate of Jerusalem attracting thousands of pilgrims.
