The former Detroit City Hall once stood at the site of the One Kennedy Square building in downtown Detroit, Michigan. The former city hall building was constructed in 1861, and finished in 1871. It was demolished in 1961. It stood at 5 stories in height, 4 above-ground, and one basement floor. It was built by Alexander Chapoton of one of the city's oldest French families.
It was torn down in 1961.

Not sure where you found this picture, but in the middle of this picture I'm in the white short sleeve shirt at age 20. This was taken about May, 1959. My father is in the dark suite off to my left. This was a part of a picture record taken by the Detroit Free press of old buildings in the downtown area.
