The Holy Trinity God has revealed Himself twice to human sight. He first appeared to Abraham near the Oak of Mamre, marking the great mercy of God to mankind. The second time, Life-Creating Trinity appeared to the Venerable Alexander of Svir in the Russian land. We do not dare to guess what that appearance of God to the New Testament saint meant. We will only strive to honor the land and the monastery which was built in the north of the Russian land at the behest of the Holy Trinity God and New Testament Abraham – Alexander, our Venerable father and wonderworker.
The Venerable Alexander of Svir is one of the few Russian saints who was canonized 14 years after his saintly death. His disciples and admirers were still alive, so the life of the Venerable Alexander was written by eyewitnesses; therefore, it has a particular credibility. There are no pious schemes in it, and it reflects the unique face of holiness of Alexander the Wonderworker of all Russia.
